Mister Illusion aka Charlie Fass at Warner Brothers Studio

Last month, I, Mister Illusion (aka Charlie Fass) spent several days with my wife Barb in Burbank California with the express purpose of visiting the Warner Brothers Studios.  While there we were given a private tour of the sound stages, sets, back lot, folly studio, prop warehouse, and even had the opportunity to hold a real Oscar award–it is much heavier than I thought.

We saw many sets and structures which looked familiar from movies and television shows.  We even spent some time on the set of “Friends”.  We were able to take quite a few photographs, but there were some areas where we could not.  Taking videos was not permitted at all.

One of the highlights of the tour was having lunch in the executive dining room.  On our last visit to the Warner Brothers studio in 2002 we also had lunch, but it was in the commissary which was cafeteria style where the stage hands and actors would have their lunch.  The dining room this time was where all the V.I.P.s had their lunch, so we were made to feel really special, and were waited on by very cordial waiters.

Sitting at our table was Cass Warner (grand daughter of Mister Warner, president of Warner Brothers).  She is a producer and writer in her own right and was very interesting to talk to about her experiences at the studios.  When she asked me what I did for a living I told her that I am Mister Illusion of Mister Illusion Magic Productions and the next thing I knew I was on my feet performing magic right there in the Warner Brothers Executive Dining Room.  What fun.

We were tired at the end of our tour, but fortunately we were a short walk from our motel.  We stopped at a Bob’s Big Boy not far away for a bite to eat at the end of the day, and at the table right next to us, a film producer was promoting his film creation to an executive.  The executive took materials from the producer and said he would call him later.  We wondered how that call would go.

It was magical to be where magic is made for the movies.
